Unlike doctors, dentists have steadily moved their practices out of the NHS over recent years. There are a decreasing number of wholly NHS practices left, as more and more dentists are attracted to the higher profits and lower workloads available from private practice.
Whereas doctors have generally evolved into profit sharing partnerships, dentists have tended to remain as sole practitioners, possibly with one or more associate dentists, or have formed cost sharing arrangements, with shared waiting room facilities, reception staff and possibly dental mechanics too. More recently, dentists have been setting up limited companies, principally to take advantage of the now abandoned Business Taper Relief for Capital Gains Tax purposes. That particular window of opportunity has now closed.
Whatever form of entity your dental practice takes, at Condies Health we understand your business. We know how you are remunerated, we know what it costs to run a successful dental practice, and we know what you need to do to improve profitability.
The services offered to dentists are illustrated
