The accuracy of any accounts prepared for your business will, to a large extent, depend on the adequacy of the underlying records. Keeping adequate records is not only good practice, it is a legal requirement. The UK tax system is based on trust. Each taxpayer, issued with a tax return, has a statutory obligation to complete it. Good records mean it will be easier to collate the information to pass to us.
The tax rules do not stipulate what form your record-keeping should take. Sometimes, business owners get by with a manual record of transactions, and we are happy to work with these when that is the case. More often than not though, records will be kept on a computer, either using spreadsheet software, or using book-keeping software of one type or another.
For medical practices, the most widely used software is either McLean MacNicholl or Sage. We are familiar with both of these and can assist practices going on to them with the initial set-up and can provide on site training in their use.
